Pool salt Chlorates
« on: November 10, 2012, 10:50:58 AM »
Hi guys,

At present I have a Chlorate Cell, which produces around the 150g mark of KClO3 per week, which is okay, but if I wanted larger amounts quicker, does anyone have any thoughts or comments on getting KClO3 from Pool salts? Should I go boil down the liquid NaClO or the solid Ca(ClO)2?

from what i have read thats a really messy way to get very  little yeild, review your cell size, electrodes and amperage. im only using chlorate for blue stars, everything else is a bit unstable/unsafe

Thanks for that! I'm using chlorate for blue/violet effects, as well as propellent oxidizer in a rocket. I've recently re-configured my cell to conform more to the one posted by AstroBoy, and I'll have to get back to you in a weeks time or so with the results.

THanks again for the reply!!!
