Wow thats a damn shame, glad I got enough materials to last me a while.

I'll put up a how to soon on how I used to make 3" hemis before I found DH, might be helpful to some new people.
These were not your average tennis ball covered with glued paper either, they are a lot like the real thing only made with card instead of strawboard.

This will be the end of me, anyone have sources for hemis or bulk amounts of kno3? I don't really feel like trying to order directly from haifa.

It's a shame to see diverse go, wonderful person. Last order I got they delivered personally to my mate because they were coming to my area so I didn't have to pay shipping, will be sorely missed.

Does anyone here know how to get a hold of John from Diverse Hobbies.

I'm still waiting for my last order (2 July). I have emailed the admin@diversehobbies.com several times but haven't got any reply yet. So I was wondering if anyone here knew of another way?

Thankyou

I don't know how to delete my last message so I just let everyone know I got in contact with John, and everything's been sorted!

Thankyou

hi guys, even though im getting out of the game as far as producing my own work goes, im not out for good. its mainly due to lack of room and the fact that i now have thousands of dollars worth of reptiles, am in the midst of major renovations so we can sell this house and move down to vic onto a 100 acre block.
yes before everyone asks, I will be coming back into the game when i have moved and got myself and family sorted properly. For me, its just not worth running the risk having chems and stuff here, that I am not going to use in the near future.

Anyhoo, I thought I would share a piece of advice that was given to me a couple of months ago by a bloke who used to make his own stuff, but has since grown too old to confidently handle, well for lack of better word, explosives. ;)

He used to make his own hemi's. He would do this by making fiberglass molds of the same size dome or hemi, over and over, for example, muffin trays for small shell inserts, 1-1.5 inch ID maybe...... maybe even a collection of 10 bowls the same size. His main point was, once you have a set of molds, you can guarantee the size over and over again.. Until a mold breaks. ;)

Then he would make a newspaper and wheat paste dough, apply an even layer over the mold and place an identical mold over the top. he would then press this for 12 hours and allow them to semi harden in the mold. With a good pair of garden shears he would trim them out the next day and leave them to cure for a further week in his drying shed. I personally would love to play around with this idea myself, but just do not have the time.
Hopefully one of you creative guys out there can get in on it with some experimenting and let us know if it works. He did mention it was like making pancakes, the first ones NEVER turn out  as good as the rest, so i assume that was old timer lingo for its freaking easy, go learn.

anyways happy shooting guys n stay safe.

personally don't have the patience for making hemi's, but id rather paste foam balls from craft shops for moulds instead. it really is the final pasting of the shell that determines your break anyway

I cant find John either.
I made an order early July which didnt arrive. Eventually I DID find him and he said the package had been re sent. That was over two weeks ago. I've emailed, rung, rung again, sent txts, rung again. No replies, no order.
I honestly cant believe he would scam me.
People CAN die I guess?

Don't worry about John, its not him.

He had some issues with the shipping companies not passing on orders, and the packages going missing like mine.
He wont scam you, just be patient, he's a very busy person

I recently had a package arrive after almost 9 months in transit...
but in that mean time John has gone well out of his way and beyond what I would say would be his reasonable duties to make sure that I'm taken care of. I would be one of the first to give John the rubber stamp of approval and an assurance he wouldn't scam you.

I like John, and have dealt with him for awhile, its just that when you spend the $$ and get a notification (from diverse)that it was sent....without a tracking number it wears a bit thin ( as I hate hassling people) & I get stuff from USA, UK & China and all turns up within 8-10 days.
All messages to diverse (and his direct number)go unanswered. Now i have decided to write off my $$, and not to expect anything. That's the down side, but the upside is that  he has been ever helpful in my pursuit of lighting the sky.

Hi guys. I'm fairly new to this forum but I just stumbled across this thread. Are you all saying that a local supplier has taken your money but has not delivered your goods to you? This is so wrong! We have laws to protect us all from this sort of thing. You should contact the Dept of Fair Trade immediately!!
